How to remove Halloween make-up

Image
Hello everyone! Dressing-up as someone, or something, for Halloween can be a lot of fun.  An elaborate costume can require a lot of make-up.  But once the fun is over, how do you take it off? Every product has different ingredients, so the way you remove it will differ.   Water-based products are much easier to get off than oil-based ones.   But first, always read the label . Here are some general guidelines on how to remove costume make-up and face paints . Use soap and water Before you try using any make-up removers, wash your face with soap and see if that does the job. Use a make-up remover Use your regular make-up remover, it will work on most types of Halloween make-up. Use an oil (coconut, jojoba, etc) Oil adheres to oil, so it's one of the easiest ways to take off face paint. Use baby wipes If you don't have any make-up removing wipes, baby wipes will work just as well. Use a lotion A little lotion on a cotton ball is great for removing make-up wit...

If you want the perfect mixture of spooky and sweet, this year you could try the  calavera  (aka  sugar skull ) make-up!  Check out the infographics below for an easy step-by-step tutorial . Hope you have a spooky time on Halloween.  But dont get too scared though.

End of summer favourites

Image
Hello everyone! Summer  is coming to a close, and in   honour   of all the summer days I've enjoyed these past months I thought I'd rave about  my   favourite   beauty products .  Some, of course, I will keep using through autumn... Hair care products This summer I cut my hair several times, currently it's at  collarbone length  and I love it.    My hair is wavy and frizzy   so I've been straightening it a lot this summer, since I find it easier to manage that way.  However my hair tends to look oily by the second day and I  will not  heat style my hair more than once a week.  Luckily I found three amazing products that solved all of my hair problems. Yves Rocher Botanical Hair Repair Oil This is a pre-poo (pre-wash) oil is enriched with restorative babassu,   jojoba and macadamia oils to nourish the scalp and strengthen the hair.  Contains   more t...

Shhh... It's a beauty secret!

Image
Hello everyone! Today I want to share one of my beauty "secrets" with all of you.  For the past four or five months, I've been using Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm as a primer.   Primers are meant to help your make-up apply smoother and stay on all day. (Read Primer 101 ) The online beauty community has been raving about this product for a while, and now I am too.   The trend was started by YouTube beauty vlogger  NikkieTutorials , who uploaded a video in March 2015 talking about the product. Using this as a primer is a great idea.  Since t he product contains   glycerin , it helps make-up stay on much better than traditional primers.  For more information about glycerin, read this post:  Vegetable glycerin for glowing skin!    I  truly  believe that this balm is a much better primer than the actual  silicone - based primer s  I was using before .  Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm Nivea US$6.79 ...

Strobing | The "anti-contouring"

Image
Hello everyone! For those who don't like contouring and those who never quite figured out how to contour, meet " strobing".   B asically strobing is an  "anti-contouring" technique .   Strobing uses highlighter to bring out your features and helps you achieve a dewy and neutral look.  This technique  uses light to shape your face rather than contouring which primarily uses shadows.   Typically we pair highlighting with contouring but highlight is quite beautiful on its own, especially in the summer months.  How to get the look: With strobing, you simply apply a generous amount of highlighter in the inner corners of your eyes, under your brow bones, the tops of your cheekbones, your temples, your Cupids bow, the bridge of your nose and anywhere the light naturally hits your face and then blend .  The key is to find a liquid or powder highlighter that compliments your skin tone. Do you prefer strobing over highlighting and counturing? ...
