Four types of diagnostic tests

Image
Hello everyone! In this blog, I always talk about the importance of lifestyle to health and wellness.  However, an apple a day doesnt always keep the doctor away.  We still need to visit the doctor and sometimes go through medical procedures.    In this post, I want to talk about  diagnostic tests ; what each exam is for and what to expect during the procedure.  Going through any diagnostic test would make any person anxious.  It is perfectly normal to feel nervous when your physician orders an exam to diagnose your condition.  However, learning about each exam can give you  peace of mind .   Here are four types of diagnostic tests that can be done at facilities such as Middletown Medical Imaging. Open MRI Scan If you are worried about a traditional MRI scanner, you can ask your physician about an  open MRI scanner .  It features an open design that brings you mental and physical comfort during the procedure.  You m...

DIY: Bug repellent spray ???? ??

Image
Hello everyone! Let's talk about... bugs.  Warm  spring  weather means that  bugs  and other  pests  come out of hibernation.  As a vegan, I don't want to kill any bugs, but they can be extremely annoying! Of course, many people turn to chemical sprays to get rid of them.  Unfortunately, in addition to having a very unpleasant odour, conventional insect repellents can harm people who have allergies, and even cause health issues, not to mention the harmful effects to the environment. Fortunately, you can repel pests with essential oils .  Here's a recipe for a DIY bug repellent spray ! Ingredients: 2 1/2 teaspoons essential oil/s (list below) 1 tablespoon vodka or rubbing alcohol 1/2 cup  witch hazel 1/2 cup water (or vinegar) 1 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin (optional) Method: Place essential oils in a glass spray bottle.  Add vodka or alcohol and shake well. Pour in witch hazel and shake to combine. Add 1/...

All about my ear piercings

Image
Hello everyone! Almost 5 weeks ago (26/02/2018) I had my right upper lobe pierced.  The reason why I got a new piercing is very simple: I already had two piercings in my left ear and I wanted two in my right ear as well.   After binge-watching videos on YouTube about piercings, I decided to make a blog post about my piercings. In my left ear, I have a standard lobe and a tragus piercing. Standard lobe piercing Age:  Around 2 months (1985).   My mum had my lobes pierced as a baby.  It is still fairly common to pierce babies here in Malta and in the 80's when I was born, it was even more so.  In fact, gold earrings were a very popular baptism gift for a baby girl. Needle or gun:  Gun. Pain:  I don't remember. Healing process:  Very easy, according to my mum. Tragus piercing Age:  16 years (back in 2001).  I was a first-year student at Junior College, I was finally free from the dreaded school uniform and the no ...

An introduction to aromatherapy

Image
Hello everyone! I've been using essential oils for a very long time, ever since I fell in love with aromatherapy about 20 years ago.  I always have oil burners, scented candle and reed diffusers around the house and I also use essential oils regularly in my skincare routine.  For those of you who might not know; aromatherapy  is the practice of using essential plant oils for healing body, mind and spirit. Aromatherapy can be performed in several ways, namely: Diffusing a combination of essential oils into the air (or just one single oil) Inhaling oils through the nostrils directly off of a cloth or from the bottle Receiving massage therapy utilizing oils Soaking in an oil-infused bath Rubbing oils directly onto the skin ( diluted with a carrier oil, such as almond, jojoba or coconut oil ) Each essential oil delivers different benefits , some of which include: calming, awakening, energizing, easing pain and more. Aromatherapy can be used to treat a spe...

2016 | My year in review

Image
Hello everyone! It's the end of the year, and you know what that means   it's time to look back  at the year that was 2016.   In today's post I want to talk about   my 2016 .    For me, this was a year characterised by change...     Twenty-sixteen  was the year in which I became a   vegan .  I've been on a "mostly vegan" diet all my life.  I've never liked meat, eggs or dairy, but I did occasionally eat chicken breast and egg fried rice.  Also, if you read my blog you know that I did use   honey   in my   DIY beauty recipes .  Now I do  not eat or use any animal products.  The reason why I am even mentioning my diet (and lifestyle) on this blog is   because my skin has changed significantly  since I altered my eating habits.   My   acne   went away completely, which is something I was hoping for.  But not only that, my acne ...
