DIY: Vegan hair mask

Image
Hello everyone! I noticed that I haven't posted a DIY hair mask recipe in years, so today I want to share my favourite homemade vegan hair mask .  Check it out... Ingredients: 1 ripe  avocado    cup of agave syrup 2 tablespoons  olive oil  These natural ingredients will give your hair intense moisture to bring its shine and health back.  The oils in avocado  are easily absorbed by the hair.   Also, agave syrup attracts and locks moisture while  olive oil  moisturises and makes the syrup manageable. Method: Mash a whole overripe avocado into a bowl. Add cup of agave syrup. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and mix well. Massage the mixture into damp hair and leave it on for 30 minutes. Rinse the mask off completely. You can apply this vegan hair mask as regularly as every week, given that natural ingredients have no adverse side effects.  Related post: DIY: Avocado hair mask (non-vegan) A natural way to cleanse and heal you...

The history and psychology of hair colour

Image
Hello everyone! O ver a year ago I wrote a post titled  A typical brunette?   in which I mentioned common stereotypes about hair colour.    Numerous stereotypes associated with our hair colour, texture and style still exist today.   Salons Direct  created an infographic which looks deeper into the  history and psychology of hair colour .   They've taken a look at the stereotypes surrounding hair colour and have worked with a leading colour psychologist to examine these stereotypes.  They have also conducted a research and found some very interesting results supporting these preconceptions, including: Brunettes are considered more intelligent Blondes are considered the most attractive Redheads were seen to be the feistiest Check it out: Via  Salons Direct   What colour is your hair?   Do you fit the stereotype of your hair colour?   Leave a comment below!

Heavy contour:  Contouring has been around for years but it reached new heights in 2015 with techniques like clown contouring .   Waist trainers:   While many believe that wearing a waist trainer will help them get an hour glass shape, the results are only temporary and can cause some health problems.  Overdrawn...

Reverse hair washing

Image
Hello everyone! I've been reverse washing my hair for quite some time now, since co-washing was no longer working for me.  I believe I finally found the hair cleansing method that works best for my hair.  What is reverse hair washing? Simply put, it's washing your hair in reverse.  You apply your conditioner first,  then   your shampoo.   If your hair is thin, oily and/or prone to product build-up, reverse washing may be the best hair cleansing method for you too.  Reverse washing means your hair still gets all the moisturising benefits of using conditioner but you're not left with that weighted, almost-greasy feeling. My hair: Let me tell you a bit about my hair.  I have medium length, naturally wavy hair that's oily at the roots and dryish at the ends. My hair is prone to  " halo"  frizz  and I also  colour -treat it about once a month. You can see photos of my hair in previous posts  HERE and HERE . Reverse washi...

A typical brunette?

Image
Hello everyone! At one point or another, we've all heard the stereotypes about hair colour.  Such as; Blondes have more fun ,   Redheads are wild , and   Brunettes are trustworthy.   Of course, every now and then we do fall into those categories,  but can hair colour really have an effect on our personality?  Totally, a new hair colour can enhance your mood, style, and confidence, as well as change the way other people perceive you. Now, personally, I have dyed dark brown hair.  I'm a natural brunette, but my natural colour is a couple of shades lighter than my dye.   I'm considering changing it to a soft medium brown, for the warmer months ahead.    If you too are looking for your perfect hair colour check out    Madison Reed 's   website for  hair dye  advice .     Madison Reed ,  is a hair care company that specialises in   hair dye .   Their dye is a healthier  s...

Is granny hair the hottest beauty trend of the season?

Image
Hello everyone! In an effort to stay eternally youthful, most women usually touch-up their roots every time they spot a few silver strands peeking out.  Now, theres a  beauty (and Instagram ) trend popping up; granny hair.  This new trend is provoking conversation about blurring the lines between ageing and greying . Jean Paul Gaultier introduced granny hair into fashion back in 2011.  A year later Kelly Osbourne and Kate Moss both sported silver locks and since then everyone from Lady Gaga to Kylie Jenner has been experimenting with this look.
